Zaphne's Awesome World

My Story

Once there was a quiet Mennonite girl who knew only the soft edges of her world — rooted places, simple days, faith-shaped hush. The sky was wide even then, but it felt close and familiar, like a quilt over the same fields every night.

Then the light called her out. She stepped into the big wide everything: golden-hour mountains, oceans that seemed to know the beat, cities of tiny suns, rockets brushing stars, butterflies painting the afternoon. The planet, it turned out, had been throwing a party she’d always been invited to.

She didn’t just visit that wideness — she made a home in it. Green things nursed back from almost-gone. Two girls who see the world in their own bright ways. Animals with small opinions about everything. A kitchen where something’s always becoming a keeper. Creating stopped feeling like a hobby and more like a second language — one she speaks in melody as easily as recipes and stories.

What came out of her is a strange sweet mix: soft twang from the quiet roads, hypnotic night-glow from the open sky. The old roots still live in the steel and the pads. They don’t dim the cosmos; they make the trance feel like home. Soft, grateful, wide-eyed — still tending every living thing in her orbit. Still belonging.

Soft twang for the road home. Hypnotic glow for the open sky.

Plain Girl, Wider Sky

The leaving song — a quiet Mennonite girl steps past the fence line into a sky that finally fits, soft twang opening into the big wide everything

Soft play0:00 / 0:00
origin · soft twang · wider sky

Verse 1

There was a road behind the cornfields

There was a sky I couldn’t name

There was a book of simple answers

And a question like a hidden flame

Verse 2

Not the world they drew in sermons

Not the fences, not the plain

Just a whisper past the milk barn

Saying everything can change

Chorus

Sing low, sing low

The old hymns still follow my heart

Sing low, sing low

Plain little girl walking out in the dark

Verse 3

I have known the quiet kitchen

I have known the sewing light

Now the city has a language

And it speaks to me all night

Chorus

Sing low, sing low

The old hymns still follow my heart

Sing low, sing low

Plain little girl walking out in the dark

Outro

One sustained note, all voices, until breath runs out

Barn Light

Quiet steel and dusk gold — soft twang carrying home light into the wide hypnotic night

Soft play0:00 / 0:00
soft twang · quiet night · home glow

Intro

Slow piano, distant crickets, wind — very quiet

Verse 1

The barn light burns a little gold,

against the blue the dusk unfolds,

I packed the things I couldn’t leave,

and left the rest for you to grieve.

Pre-Chorus

I didn’t want to break your heart,

I just wanted to see how far

the sky went past the fence line’s end—

I had to go, I had to bend.

Chorus

Barn light, blue light,

fading in my rearview now,

I’m sorry for the quiet fight,

I’m sorry that I don’t know how

to stay soft and still stay true,

so I’m carrying the barn light

somewhere new.

Verse 2

The gravel road don’t hold a grudge,

it just lets go, don’t make me judge

myself for wanting something more

than what was waiting at that door.

Chorus

Barn light, blue light,

fading in my rearview now,

I’m sorry for the quiet fight,

I’m sorry that I don’t know how

to stay soft and still stay true,

so I’m carrying the barn light

somewhere new.

Bridge

Softest moment — voice cracking slightly

I still say my prayers the old way,

even on the loudest, brightest day,

some things don’t get left behind,

they just… change color in your mind.

Final Chorus

Gentle swell, strings enter, still restrained

Barn light, blue light,

I carry you in everything I do,

I’m sorry for the quiet fight,

but I think you’d understand it too—

I didn’t leave you, not really true,

I just took the barn light

somewhere new.

Outro

Fading — just voice and one pad

somewhere new… somewhere new…

(barn light… blue light… gone.)

Hum Me the Missing Song

Neon hypnosis mix — Congress rumors, chrome ghosts, and a soft ask under the bridge at 3 A.M.

Soft play0:00 / 0:00
neon hypnosis · soft twang · missing melody

Verse 1

Limestone still remembers rain

that stopped falling years ago —

a dead river talking in her sleep,

saying low, love, low.

I got a borrowed face and a bootleg name

and a signal I can’t sell,

walking Congress like a rumor

nobody’s got the heart to tell.

Pre

And the drones come out at dusk

the way the bats used to —

same black arithmetic,

different hunger. Same blue.

Chorus

So meet me under the bridge, 3 A.M.,

where the neon runs off the stone.

I’m not asking you to save anything —

just don’t make me hold it alone.

The city’s got a heartbeat,

somebody built it wrong.

Put your hand right here on the wiring, baby,

and hum me the missing song.

Verse 2

There’s a girl selling weather on Sixth Street,

says she’ll sell you a spring you’ll believe.

I bought a Tuesday in April once —

cried the whole way home, and I don’t grieve.

Every ghost down here wears chrome now,

every honky-tonk hums in machine.

I keep a green room in the back of my skull

and nobody’s paved it clean.

Bridge

Low, love, low —

the water’s coming back someday.

And I’d like to be a body in it,

not a signal, not a name, not a way in.

Low, love, low.

Let’s be the thing they can’t relay.

Final Chorus

Half-time — everything drops but bass and one voice, then the whole thing floods back in on “hum me the missing song.”

Soft play0:00 / 0:00
nightcore · soft twang · humancore

Intro

Spoken high & breathy, then pitched-up giggle

Yeah… our world is stupidly, ridiculously, amazingly awesome…

Let’s go!

Verse 1

Golden hour kisses every mountain peak

Ocean waves are dancing like they know the beat

Forests whisper secrets only stars can hear

Every single sunrise feels like crystal-clear

Cities light up like a million tiny suns

Laughing faces glowing when the day is done

From frozen tundras to the desert’s fiery kiss

This planet’s throwing parties and we’re all on the list!

Pre-Chorus

Feel that bassline shaking through your chest

This is living — nothing less!

Chorus

Our world is awesome — say it louder!

Spinning through the cosmos like a cosmic powder

Colors exploding, hearts in overdrive

We’re alive, we’re alive, we’re so alive!

Nights echo thunder, lights cutting the sky

We’re dancing on the edge and we’re flying high

Awesome world — we’re never coming down

This blue marble’s got the crown!

Verse 2

Tiny hands holding bigger hands so tight

Kindness blooming in the dead of night

Rockets kissing stars while we scroll our feeds

Every single heartbeat planting brand-new seeds

Wolves howling love songs to the silver moon

Butterflies painting every afternoon

Different faces, different stories, same flame

Humanity’s a masterpiece and we’re all to blame!

Pre-Chorus

Turn it up — let the whole universe hear

We’re the spark that makes the darkness disappear!

Chorus

Our world is awesome — scream it louder!

Spinning through the cosmos like a cosmic powder

Colors exploding, hearts in overdrive

We’re alive, we’re alive, we’re so alive!

Nightcore thunder, lights cutting the sky

We’re dancing on the edge and we’re flying high

Awesome world — we’re never coming down

This blue marble’s got the crown!

Bridge

Beat drops out — just vocals + soft pads

When the night gets heavy and the doubts get loud

Close your eyes and feel the planet spinning proud

We’re stardust wearing sneakers on the ground

In this awesome world… we’re home.

Final Chorus

Full nightcore explosion

Our world is awesome — louder than before!

Every single second we’re asking for more

Sky full of diamonds, ocean full of light

We’re the reason it all feels so right!

Humancore— hearts ignite and burn

For every leaf that turns and every lesson learned

Awesome world — forever and a day

We’re the ones who get to stay!

Outro

High-pitched layered ad-libs fading with reverb

Awesome… awesome…

Our world… our world…

…is stupidly, ridiculously, amazingly… awesome.
